Microphone test.
Before the call.

Pick the input, watch the level, read one sentence, and hear the clip before you join.

Runs in this browser. Audio never leaves this tab.

Test my mic online

Use this page when you are not sure which input is live, or when a headset sounds fine in music but thin on a call. Nothing is uploaded and no model runs.

Level, clipping and noise

The lamp combines speech level, clipping, noise floor and signal-to-noise. Values are in dBFS, digital level relative to full scale, not loudness in the room.

Raw signal switch

By default echo cancellation, noise suppression and automatic gain run like in a browser call. Turn on raw measurement to see the unprocessed input.

When you need a recording

This page only checks the mic. Vemoir for Mac captures microphone and system audio during the call on your machine.

No speaker labels on this page

This page does not label speakers. It only checks level and noise on the input you choose.

Not a transcription test

The read-aloud sentence follows the page language. It does not transcribe Swiss German.

How to test your microphone before a call

01

Start the test

Click Test microphone and allow access once.

02

Read the sentence

During the eight-second countdown, speak at a normal call volume.

03

Read the lamp and listen

Check the status line, the numbers, and the short clip.

Before you start

How do I test my microphone online?

Click Test microphone, allow access when the browser asks, read the sentence during the countdown, then read the lamp and listen to the clip.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. The clip stays in memory in this tab and is discarded when you leave or restart the test.

What does the lamp mean?

Green means the level and noise look ready for a call. Yellow means caution on level, noise or clipping. Red means a clear problem. No signal means the input stayed below -60 dBFS.

Why do I not see a waveform?

The waveform appears after you start the test and the browser grants microphone access.

What is dBFS?

Decibels relative to full scale. Zero dBFS is the digital maximum. Normal speech often sits between -30 and -12 dBFS on a healthy input.

Why does my Bluetooth headset sound worse on a call?

Many headsets use one profile for music and another for voice. The voice profile is narrower and can sound dull or thin in Zoom, Teams or Meet.

Does this apply to Zoom and Teams?

This page measures the browser signal. Those apps add their own processing and may change the level you send.

How do I allow the microphone again?

Use the site permissions in your browser, set Microphone to Allow for this site, then reload and click Test microphone again.

Good level is the start of a good record.

Vemoir for Mac captures the call on your machine when you want a transcript and notes afterward.
