Question 1

What is Vemoir?

Accepted Answer

Vemoir is a Mac app for meeting records. It records from the menu bar, transcribes on your Mac and turns each call into minutes, decisions, action items and a follow-up draft. You can then ask questions about the meeting and share only the parts you choose.

Question 2

Does Vemoir join my meetings as a bot?

Accepted Answer

No. Vemoir records your microphone and your Mac’s system audio directly, so no bot joins the call and nobody sees an extra participant. You start and stop the recording yourself.

Question 3

Which meeting apps does Vemoir work with?

Accepted Answer

Vemoir records mic and system audio on your Mac, so it works with Microsoft Teams, Slack huddles, Zoom, Google Meet, Discord and any other app that plays audio on your Mac. It is not tied to one meeting provider.

Question 4

Does my meeting audio leave my Mac?

Accepted Answer

Not by default. Transcription and summaries run on your Mac with local models. Recordings, transcripts and generated records stay on your Mac unless you export them, or choose a cloud model with your own API key for a specific workflow.

Question 5

Why does Vemoir ask for Screen Recording permission?

Accepted Answer

macOS only lets apps capture audio from other apps through the Screen Recording permission. Vemoir uses it only to capture meeting audio. It never records your screen contents.

Question 6

Does Vemoir work offline?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once the models you selected are installed, the complete meeting workflow can run offline. You need an internet connection only for the initial setup and model downloads.

Question 7

Can I use local or cloud AI models?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The default setup is local. You can pick other on-device models, such as Qwen, or connect a provider such as OpenAI GPT with your own API key. Cloud models are always opt-in.

Question 8

Which languages does Vemoir support?

Accepted Answer

The app interface is available in English, German, French, Italian and Dutch. With the Parakeet v3 model, Vemoir transcribes 25 European languages. Other models have their own language coverage.

Question 9

Can I import recordings I already have?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Vemoir transcribes imported MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF, CAF and FLAC files, so earlier calls and interviews become structured records too.

Question 10

Can I add my own notes during a meeting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Notes you type during the meeting are part of the record. When the recording stops, Vemoir folds them into the minutes, decisions and action items.

Question 11

What can I export or share?

Accepted Answer

Minutes, decisions, action items, generated artifacts, follow-up drafts and project notes. You share through native macOS actions and decide what leaves your Mac.

Question 12

What does Vemoir cost?

Accepted Answer

CHF 20, one-time. No subscription, no charge per meeting and no seat count. Every feature is included. You buy Vemoir on the Mac App Store, which shows the price in your local currency.

Question 13

Which Macs does Vemoir run on?

Accepted Answer

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS Sonoma 14.2 or later, with at least 8 GB of memory and 10 GB of free storage. 16 GB or more is recommended for long meetings. Intel Macs are not supported.

Question 14

Can I transcribe a file without the Mac app?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The free browser tools turn a recording you already have into text on your device, without uploading it. Live recording and the stronger models are in the Mac app.

Question 15

Do I need consent to record a meeting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tell everyone in the meeting that you are recording and get their consent first. Many countries require it, including Switzerland. Vemoir records only when you start it.
